Social Care Wales (SCW)
Social Care Wales (SCW) ensures a high standard of social care by setting CPD requirements for the workforce, which vary by role:
- Social Care Workers: 45 hours of CPD over three years
- Social Care Managers and Social Workers: 90 hours of CPD over three years
- Social Work Students: CPD is not required
All members must log their CPD hours in their SCWonline account within their three-year registration period and provide evidence if selected for audit. Activities may include training sessions, qualifications, seminars, and reflective practice that align with job responsibilities and personal development goals. Each member should keep a portfolio supporting their CPD log, including certificates and brief descriptions of learning outcomes.
Employers are expected to support CPD efforts by providing opportunities for training, supervision, and feedback. Self-employed members must arrange for verification of their CPD or submit documentation directly to SCW.
