Description:
Offering high-quality sessions that enhance your courage, confidence and capacity to thrive through challenges, change and the complexities of the modern world without stress. Our CPD accredited speaker, Dr Sue Mitchell, describes this as enhancing your inner sustainability as the foundation for adaptable leadership that (i) brings out the best from yourself and others around you, (ii) supports you to work and collaborate effectively and (iii) raises engagement, wellbeing and performance.
Why is this valuable and beneficial? Persistently high levels of burnout and stress at work continue to impact people at all levels in many different types of organisations, especially when the organisation is facing change, conflict or other challenges. Many managers say that reducing stress and raising wellbeing is one of their top priorities for their teams. The World Economic Forum describes burnout as a response to chronic job stressors that haven’t been successfully managed. Managing these stressors involves (i) how you respond personally to potential stressors and importantly (ii) how you can change the system to prevent stressors from arising in the first place. This second part is important for staff at all levels, even when you believe you have no control over the processes and systems in the organisation. It is especially important for managers and leaders, particularly the executive teams to design strategy. Sue’s talks help people discover how they can manage their own response to challenges and also influence the system.

“As a scientist, I was trained to take the person out of everything, to focus on the science and the task to get properly objective results. However, over the years, I’ve come to realise that no matter what discipline or sector you work in, you can only be your best and inspire high performance (for yourself and others) when you put the person into everything. I help you do this through a mindset approach to self-leadership and leading others that gives you tools to raise wellbeing, engagement AND performance.”
As a Fellow of the Professional Speaking Association of UK and Ireland (PSA UK&I), Sue has earned recognition for her expertise and community service. Sue was the PSA UK&I Regional President Scotland for 2019-2020. Who Should Attend:
Our talks are ideal for staff at all levels who are experiencing challenges like change or dealing with complex situations. Talks are tailored for specific audiences, such as executive or leadership teams, or company staff at the annual conference, to ensure the content is made relevant to their context. Everyone is exposed to change, challenges and the complexities of living and working in the modern world. Many of us will experience stress, overwhelm and potentially reduced performance as a result. In Sue’s talks, the audience gains tools to be able to choose how they respond to circumstances in a way that raises their confidence and courage to do things differently. Typical audiences Sue speaks with include: Organisations experiencing growth, stress or challenges such as organisational change or dealing with external changes imposed on the organisation. E.g.: All staff conferences, leadership or executive team quarterly or annual events. Membership organisations and Professional networks. E.g.: within organisation networks – such as women’s networks, small business networks, CEO / mastermind groups, professional association conferences. In-house staff development for all staff, managers or leaders. Organisations Sue has worked with range from global corporates in banking/finance, biosciences, engineering and other sectors, public sector organisations, SMEs, to university staff or students. Sue delivers interactive events in person at locations throughout the UK as well as overseas. She can also deliver events online, incorporating interactivity through Menti, video, and other tools.
