Description:

Providing structured professional development, training, and certification programmes in laboratory medicine, diagnostics, public health, and health systems strengthening.

ASLM Academy delivers online courses, live and recorded webinars, blended learning programmes, and face-to-face trainings designed to strengthen the competence of laboratory professionals, clinicians, public health practitioners, and health programme implementers. Our learning activities support improved diagnostic quality, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and workforce readiness across priority health programmes including HIV, TB, AMR, biosafety and biosecurity, genomics, laboratory mapping, quality management systems (QMS), leadership development, internship and early-career workforce support, and outbreak preparedness.

Evolving technologies, quality standards, and disease priorities require health professionals to regularly update their skills. Well-structured CPD activities enable practitioners to correctly implement diagnostics, apply quality management systems, interpret results reliably, utilise laboratory mapping and data for planning and referral systems, engage in leadership and management roles, and support timely clinical and public health decision-making.

ASLM Academy is the training and workforce development arm of the African Society for Laboratory Medicine. We work in collaboration with Ministries of Health, national public health institutes, implementing partners, continental and global health organisations to deliver scalable, standardised learning. Training is delivered through a self placed digital learning platform or complemented by instructor-led workshops, internship-linked learning pathways, expert-led webinars, and face to face trainings allowing professionals to access learning regardless of location.

ASLM Academy is currently applying for CPD accreditation to formally recognise its courses, trainings, learning activities, and webinar series for CPD credit, ensuring learners receive verifiable, quality-assured professional development aligned with international standards and national workforce needs.
