Description:

Offering CPD-accredited management training and ongoing support for new and accidental managers in SMEs, local authorities and care sector organisations. The Manager's Academy is a monthly membership that gives managers who were promoted without training the scripts, tools and live support they need to handle the people side of the job with confidence.

My CPD-accredited membership helps managers handle difficult conversations, performance issues and conflict between team members, so you stop guessing and start knowing what to say. If you were promoted for doing your own job well rather than for managing others, this gives you what to say and what to do, not management theory from a textbook.

Why does a new manager need ongoing support rather than a one-off course? Because people's problems do not arrive on a schedule. One workshop gives you a moment of clarity, and then you are back on your own the next time someone bursts into tears in a one-to-one or tells you “that is not how we do things here.” The Academy works differently. Every month you get live training on a real people-management theme, a live support session where you bring your actual situation and get help working out what to say next, plus templates and checklists you can use straight away.

How can management training help a first-time manager handle difficult conversations? By giving you more than a script for one moment. Inside the Academy, you get monthly live training on real people-management themes such as feedback, boundaries, performance and conflict, plus a live support session where you bring your actual situation and work out what to say and do next. Add in templates, checklists and a community of managers facing the same things, and you build the confidence to handle whatever comes up, not just the one conversation you prepared for.

I bring over 40 years of experience working with managers across private and public-sector organisations, including a substantial background in the Civil Service and HMRC, to everything I teach. I hold CMI Level 7 qualifications in Strategic Management and Leadership and in Professional Consulting, and I am a Chartered Manager and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute. The Manager's Academy is CPD accredited, and my work and insights have been featured by the Chartered Management Institute.
Membership is £57 per month or £570 per year, with no contract and the option to cancel at any time.

Who Should Attend:

The Manager’s Academy is ideal for anyone managing people without having been trained to manage people, whatever sector you work in, including:

  • New and first-time managers who have been promoted for doing their own job well and now need to lead a team benefit from monthly live training that builds the people skills their promotion never came with
  • Team leaders and supervisors in SMEs handling performance, conflict and feedback conversations without HR support close at hand get practical scripts and templates they can use the same day
  • Managers in local authority and care sector roles looking for practical, people-focused training that fits around a demanding job gain flexible, bite-sized learning plus live sessions they can bring real situations to
  • Office managers and team leads who want to stop guessing whether they are being too soft or too harsh with their team develop the confidence to set boundaries and hold people accountable without damaging relationships
  • Anyone who has searched how to manage people, how to have a difficult conversation at work, or how to deal with an underperforming employee gets ongoing, real situation support rather than a one-off answer, so the learning keeps working long after the search results run out If you recognise yourself in any of the above, you can expect to leave each month knowing exactly what to say and do in your next difficult conversation, with the confidence to handle performance issues, boundaries and conflict without losing sleep over them.
