College of General Dentistry (CGDent)

College of General Dentistry (CGDent) logo

The College of General Dentistry (CGDent) was established in 2021 following the transfer of the former Faculty of General Dental Practice UK from the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Its creation fulfilled a long-standing ambition to establish an independent professional college dedicated specifically to dentistry. CGDent serves as the professional body for the entire dental team, not just dentists. It develops professional standards, career pathways, guidance, credentials and lifelong learning opportunities.

CPD Policy

CGDent itself does not operate a separate statutory CPD scheme. Instead, its members follow the General Dental Council (GDC) Enhanced CPD requirements. CGDent provides tools, guidance, career pathways and a Personal Development Planning (PDP) system to help members comply.
