Description:

Specialising in autism training for therapists, counsellors, and mental health practitioners working with autistic adults. Coaching South West delivers evidence-based professional development in neurodivergent therapy and autism-affirming therapeutic approaches.
Our flagship course "Adapting Therapy for Autistic Adults" equips mental health professionals with practical skills to modify counselling and therapeutic interventions for autistic clients.

The training addresses key challenges in autism counselling—from sensory considerations and communication preferences to processing styles—helping practitioners deliver more effective, accessible support that respects autistic identity and lived experience.

Why do mental health professionals need autism-specific training? Standard therapeutic approaches often fail to account for autistic processing styles, leading to reduced client engagement and poorer outcomes. How does appreciative inquiry improve therapy for neurodivergent adults? This strengths-based methodology centres client expertise and autonomy, creating collaborative therapeutic relationships that honour neurodivergent ways of being rather than pathologising difference.

Training is delivered by Zoe Garrod, MSc Psychology, who brings 17 years of teaching experience and published peer-reviewed research in adapting therapy for autistic adults using appreciative inquiry methodology. All courses are designed for immediate practical application in clinical settings with autistic clients.
